hotelforum: 40 hotels from 12 countries are competing for the European “Hotel Property Award 2020”
Munich, 14 August 2020 – 40 hotels from 12 European countries have applied for this year’s “Hotel Property Award 2020”, which is to be presented on Wednesday, 7 October as part of the hybrid hotelforum conference.
22 applicants come from Germany, and the other hotels are from the following eleven countries: Croatia (3), Cyprus (1), Denmark (1), Greece (1), Italy (1), Kazakhstan (1), the Netherlands (3), Romania (1), Switzerland (2), Turkey (1) and the United Kingdom (3). Roughly one-third of the entries are repositioned existing hotels which have been completely renovated, and the others are converted buildings which have been put to a completely different, new use.
Andreas Martin, Chairman of the hotelforum jury: “We had actually not anticipated the ongoing high level of participation in the competition in these difficult times, consisting of 40 applicants from 12 European countries. The expert jury will be faced once again with the exiting task of selecting up to ten nominees from among a highly heterogeneous group of 40 innovative hotels. There’s everything there from the budget end to the luxury segment. Roughly one-quarter of the applicants are holiday hotels.”
The “Hotel Property Award” targets both hotel developers, owners and operators as well as architects and interior designers with hotels that were completed and opened in Europe between January 2019 and July 2020. All the contestants will be assessed at the jury meeting at the beginning of September, and the nominees will be selected. The jury will be looking for an interplay between the following categories: architecture and design, integration into the project environment, sustainability and technical innovation, the originality of the concept, as well as cost-effectiveness. Please find enclosed an overview of the applications for the “Hotel Property Award 2020”.
Even as a hybrid conference with a live stage and with a limited number of people being able to attend in person in Munich, hotelforum offers a highly-qualified communication platform with a varied stage programme, virtual breakout sessions, opportunities for exhibitors and a variety of network formats for the hospitality industry. It will culminate in the presentation of the “Hotel Property Award”. 2020’s hotelforum will be held on Wednesday, 7 October. More information at www.hotelforum.org.
